The Transportation Safety Board has deployed a team of two investigators after a plane crashed near Kananaskis Village, Alta., Friday.
The plane, a Piper PA32, was on its way to B.C.’s Southern Interior, when the crash happened. TSB spokesperson Liam MacDonald said the plane left Springbank airport in Calgary just before 9 p.m. and was en route to Salmon Arm.
An emergency locator transmitters was activated when the plane was reported overdue and search and rescue and police were dispatched, he said.
The plane went down about five kilometres north of Kananaskis Village, roughly 75 kilometres west of Calgary, MacDonald confirmed.
He added crews initially set up a staging scene at the Heart Creek Day Use area, however there is no longer a scene there.
No injuries or deaths have been confirmed by officials as of Saturday afternoon. However, EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux says crews responded to the area early Saturday morning, but were informed there would not be any patients to transport or assess.
