Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will announce Canada’s next governor general this morning, CBC News has learned.
A source, who spoke confidentially because the announcement was not yet public, said the name will be unveiled at a news conference at 10 a.m. ET at the Canadian Museum of History.
Julie Payette resigned from the post more than five months ago, after a scathing external review found she had presided over a “toxic” and “poisoned” workplace at Rideau Hall, with episodes of “yelling, screaming, aggressive conduct, demeaning comments and public humiliations.”
